I’m Liv and I’m an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, AMFT 157917 as well as an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor, APCC 20502. I practice online with clients in California and in-person at a private practice in Atwater Village  under the Supervision of Cameron Holliday, LCSW 63999.  

 

      I’m a somatic therapist. I work through a trauma informed, person-centered lens, drawing on my experience as a Licensed Massage Therapist, practicing since 2008. I help my clients create a space where they can attune to their physical (or somatic) experience and learn to discern its root. Is it stemming from an internal source or an external source. I interweave EMDR, attachment work, and Internal Family Systems and how these things show up in the body.

     Mostly, I listen to and feel into what my clients are asking for and collaborate with them to create a space that feels safe enough to be vulnerable.

     I started my undergrad studies as a pre-med and theater student and then pivoted to psychology and theater at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. I then worked as an actor, documentary filmmaker, and Licensed Massage Therapist, weaving the understanding of mind and body in narrative and physical forms. Visiting different and remote cultures around the world in my documentary work has informed my cultural sensitivity to differences in cultures and has also developed an understanding that some human challenges are universal.

 

     Taking my life experience with me, I went back to graduate school and studied Clinical Counseling with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy at Pepperdine University Malibu Campus. I worked at Southern California Counseling Center during and after graduating, where we had 2 hours of training every week on a vast variety of topics and modalities.
